Editor: We are writing as residents of KwaMaphumulo to ask for your help with the major transport problem we are facing. From Monday to Saturday, there are no taxis operating in Maphumulo.
This has left thousands of people stranded unable to go to work, hospitals, clinics, or other important activities. People suffering from chronic diseases have failed to collect their medicines, while others who have been rushed to see doctors are unable to travel due to the lack of transport.
We are afraid that if this situation continues, there may be loss of lives due to not being able to get medical help in time. Some people are being fired from their jobs because they can’t go to work, and job seekers are missing interviews because of the lack of taxis.
We ask that Isolezwe help us by disclosing this matter so that it reaches the Department of Transport in KwaZulu-Natal, especially the Minister Mr. Siboniso Duma, and all those involved in solving this problem as soon as possible. We ask that the voice of the people of KwaMaphumulo be heard. Thank you for your time and support of the community.
