OpneAI CEO Sam Altman has said that the impact of AI on jobs will be visible in the next few years, but some companies are already cutting jobs in the name of AI, even though they had made preparations in advance.

Sam Altman on Jobs: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has made a very clear statement on job cuts due to AI. He says that some companies are blaming AI for cutting those jobs which they were already planning and which would have gone even without AI. He said that he does not know how many companies are blaming AI for layoffs. Sam Altman said that the impact of AI on jobs will be visible in the next few years.

‘Companies were already planning’

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, OpenAI CEO said that AI is creating a stir in the job market but its real impact will not be visible yet. He said that in some cases, companies are citing AI and technology as the reason for laying off people, whereas they had already planned for it. Sam said that due to AI, there are definitely changes in jobs and these changes will become visible and understood in the coming few years. He said that new types of jobs will be created in the era of AI and its impact in the job sector will be visible in the times to come.

Big companies made layoffs in the name of AI

It is noteworthy that big companies have recently done layoffs in the name of AI. There is also a big company like Amazon among them. However, no company has ever told how much impact AI has had on their work and how extensive its damage is. Still, companies have fired people citing AI. Sam Altman has already said that there will be disruption in jobs due to AI but people will find new ways of working and prepare themselves with AI.

Many experts have already warned

There are also warnings of job cuts due to AI. CEOs and experts of big companies are talking about reduction in jobs in the coming years. However, the phase of layoffs has been visible since last year. This is the reason why Sam Altman has also had to speak in this matter. OpenAI CEO participated in the India AI Impact Summit. He raised his hand on the stage with PM Modi. That case also remained in the headlines because Sam did not hold the hand of the CEO of AI company Anthropic on the stage. Later he said that he did not know what was going to happen on stage.
