We say this when we officially open the House of Indigenous Leadership in KwaZulu-Natal. Last month, the Constitutional Court issued a decision ending the struggle for the Chair of the Zulu Monarchy that started in 2021. The court ruled in Silo’s favor but told the chiefs yesterday that there are still unanswered questions.
“I am still waiting for my father to bring Prince Simakade to me because there are questions I still want to ask him.”
Mbube said that Prince Simakade went to court knowing that he was not the one who should sit on the throne, and he said that he followed the bad guys by saying that he was placed in the womb of the reigning Queen, Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu.
“I’m not sorry for that, my mother is still silent, then a man from KwaZulu comes and takes me to court. Are there any blessings you will find there? You follow curses.”
Mbube has announced that he is continuing his campaign to have the fund that looks after Zulu land, the Ngonyama Trust, no longer managed by the national government but by the provincial government. It also announced that there will be a meeting to deliberate on Ngonyama Trust on April 2, at the palace in Mashobeni.
There is controversy over the management of Ngonyama Trust as the Minister of Lands, Mzwanele Nyhontso, recently announced the decision to dissolve the board. However, his decision was rejected by the High Court in Pietermaritzburg.
Judge Marion issued an interim ruling overturning Nyhontso’s decision to dissolve the board. Nyhontso said that he decided to dissolve the board because there were only a small number of its members left, following the resignation of many. There are currently four board members left, as there were nine.
The remaining members surrendered to the court complaining that Nyhontso did not have the power to disband them. Judge Marion decided that the members of the board should continue to work until a decision is made on the application that overturns Nyhontso’s decision to dissolve the board.
“All those who applied, I give them the authority to continue being members of the board.”
Judge Marion also ordered Silo and Nyhontso not to interfere in the operation of the board. Board members said the court’s decision will restore stability. In the statement, the board members said they were already saying that Nyhontso’s decision is against the law governing Ngonyama Trust.
“We explained this when we spoke to the media last week. We will continue our work as the court has clarified.”
Mbube said he is continuing his campaign to have the province’s name changed to KwaZulu. It announced that it will file a lawsuit for the burning of the palace of Silo Dingani, Pietermaritzburg. The palace was burned down in 1838 when the Zulu fought against the whites.
“I blame the burning of the palace. They chased us and burned us to ashes. When it is necessary for the King to meet the Queen of England, there is no palace to report.”
