A 75-year-old woman was brutally murdered in Cogobo, Eastern Cape, on suspicion of witchcraft.
According to emerging reports, it is said that his family members took him to a nearby stream, beat him with a plank, and drowned him. His naked body was found near a stream with bruises on his head and face and strangulation scars on his neck.
The suspects fled the scene and no one has been arrested as the police are investigating the murder.
The video circulating on social media of this disturbing incident has sparked public outrage. The Commissioner for Social Development, Bukiwe Fanta strongly condemned the killings.
He says this massacre is part of the growing problems in the Alfred Nzo Region, where four women have been killed in May alone.and no one had been arrested at the time of reporting.
