HAVING a shortage of religious music concerts in Richards Bay and its surroundings, has led to the establishment of a new event called Sihlengiwe Pre-Easter Gospel Festival which will be held at the Mhlathuze Sports Complex, on March 27.

This popular event is expected to be held every year, according to its organizer Lindani Dladla.

He told It is a country that they see that there is a space for events of this type and finally it makes people travel long distances to look for it.

“There are fun events and a big one on December 31, but we don’t have a big one in Mhlathuze and King Cetshwayo throughout. People should go to Durban and other places if they want this kind of event, especially during Easter because before there was Kufeziwe which they loved, unfortunately that ended,” said Dladla.

He said that they established this event with the aim of people having a place to praise.

Apart from that, he stated that they want to attract tourists and benefit local musicians and businessmen as he said some of them will also have the opportunity to sell food, drinks and other things at the stadium.

“Many gospel singers come from KwaZulu-Natal, so it must be known that it is the home of gospel. Here in Mhlathuze is also its home because there are local musicians who will be performing like Ngosi Ngema, Mangobe and Xolly Mncwango,” he explained.

Others arrested are Sipho “Big Fish” Makhabane, Oncemore Six, Dumi Mkokstad, Khaya Mthethwa, Sindi Ntombela, Thinah Zungu and her son Ndumiso.

The show will be hosted by Linda “Mr Magic” Sibiya and Dennis “Nzonzo” Ntombela.

Tickets are now available at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers for R200 general, and R500 for VIP

“We will start at 6 in the morning until the next day. We have also invited the pastors to pray for road accidents, abuse of women and children, safety and success. People should be comfortable because we will put up a big tent so that they will not get rained on when it rains but we will open it when it is hot,” concluded Dladla.
