Orlando Pirates (0) 1

Kaizer Chiefs (0) 1

It’s like Kaizer Chiefs adding salt to Orlando Pirates’ wounds after upsetting them with a 1-1 Betway Premiership result in favor of Mamelodi Sundowns in the league title race.

Chiefs opened the scoring with a goal by Pule Mmodi in the second half but Kamogelo Sebelebele equalized closely in the match on Sunday afternoon, at FNB Stadium, Nasrec.

Apart from Tshepang Moremi’s injury, nothing much happened in the first half of this eagerly awaited game.

The Pirates were the ones who often came close to the Chiefs, but Brandon Petersen refused to score in the first and second half.

Moremi, who will undoubtedly go with Hugo Broos (who was on the field) in the World Cup, did not finish the first half due to injury and was replaced by Patrick Maswanganyi.

Apart from seeing Moremi affected, Broos should have noticed the heroism of Petersen, who was hampered by illness before the home game at the end of February, on his way to Bafana.

After the match, Petersen told SuperSport that although he is thinking about Bafana and the World Cup, the main thing for him is to help Chiefs.

“I am saddened to be chosen as the best player today because I am coming out of difficulties in the past months,” said Petersen.

“I’m happy with the way I played but what’s even better is helping the Chiefs. Bafana’s will happen automatically if I continue to do well for the Chiefs.”

Wandile Duba scored for Mmodi for Chiefs and Deon Hotto for Sebelebele for Pirates.

Pirates’ draw relieves Sundowns of the remaining one game in this Soweto team.
