Kaizer Chiefs players whose contracts are expiring are under pressure to show the management that there is something they can do for this team that will play in the Caf Confederation Cup next season.

Amakhosi have booked their place in this competition with two matches remaining in the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership season. He has 51 points in 28 games, which is the last time he has done it in years. This team led by the coaches, Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, has a chance to finish the season with 57 points. Today at 3 pm at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban, Chiefs will face Zulu in the Premiership match with no more pressure to win since there is no team that can move them to third place on the log. In the last game of the season, Chiefs will face Chippa United in Mabida on May 23.

However, the pressure is on a few players whose contracts expire at Naturena next month. These players still have a chance to change the mind of the team managers who may have already made decisions about their future. Among these players are Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa who acts in the middle of the field, Dillan Solomons, Pule Mmodi, Gaston Sirino and Tashreeq Morris, Brandon Petersen there are rumors that he has been negotiated for another contract. It turns out that Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Glody Lilepo and Reeve Frosler have been given other contracts that will end in 2027.

Although Chiefs have done well this season, it would be self-inflicted if they say that they are no longer playing because the Zulus want to ensure that they do not move from fourth place on the log to fulfill the wish of their president, Sandile Zungu.

Ngcobo said they are expecting a tough game in Mabida.

“We are doing the usual to prepare for the game, we are honing our strategy with the coaches. We have to work hard because it will not be an easy game. We know how dangerous the Zulu can be as they are being prepared by coach Arthur (Zwane). So we are expecting a tough game and we are ready to fight to win,” said Ngcobo on the Chiefs website.

Although Amakhosi will end the season without a win or trophy, including the Nedbank Cup they defended, but there is no question that the fans are satisfied with their team’s return to the Caf. Last season, Chiefs secured a place in the Caf Confederation Cup by winning the Nedbank Cup.

“It’s nice to know that we will return to the Caf competition next season. It’s something we wanted to achieve as a team and we’re happy that we did that with two games left. I’m very happy about that. It will be difficult but we will benefit from playing there,” said Ngcobo.
