Radio and television personality Thabiso Enid Sikwane will be commemorated at a memorial service on Friday at 3C Ministries, Irene Centurion. 

The 50-year-old died in the early hours of Saturday in hospital after suffering from a headache.

“I’d like to confirm that it is true. She fell sick on Wednesday and was complaining of a headache.”

“She was taken to the hospital, and she left us in the early hours of this morning. The family is awaiting the results of the autopsy, and only then will we be able to give a proper quote of her passing,” said family spokesperson Thami Ngubeni to News24.

The details of the mother of four’s final send-off were shared with News24 in a statement.  

The family invites friends and colleagues to celebrate the seasoned broadcaster’s life by wearing bright African colours- strictly no black. 

Sikwane is described as “a woman whose warm spirit, Christ-centeredness, intelligence, and wisdom touched the lives of many.”

“A private cremation ceremony will be held with the family at a later date,” read the statement.

Sikwane’s early career in broadcasting included a gig at Voice of Soweto, which led to a successful career in the field. She later worked with prominent companies in the broadcast industry, such as YFM, Kaya FM, SAFM, and Power FM.

The award-winning radio and talk show host’s career highlights include establishing a swimming academy named after her in Randpark Ridge. The swim school aims to make swimming an enjoyable experience instead of something to be feared.
