Peter Teixeira has again been named as the DA’s mayoral candidate for the Midvaal municipality.

“Midvaal is a beacon of government excellence. A total of 12 consecutive clean audits, the most financially sustainable municipality in the country and by far the best managed municipality in Gauteng,” said Solly Msimanga, DA leader in Gauteng.

Teixeira was elected mayor of Midvaal in 2021 and the DA says history speaks for itself.

“From investing in the municipality’s young people with projects such as the mayor’s student scheme for financial aid, to creating safe and attractive public spaces for the people of Midvaal to enjoy, he is the embodiment of the DA’s good governance and excellence,” says Msimanga.

According to the party, it therefore only makes sense that he continues the work in Midvaal.

While other municipalities in Gauteng fall further and further behind, shrink economically and stagger from leak to leak, Midvaal ensures investment of billions of rand through partnerships and the development of water infrastructure, says Msimanga.

“It’s like a fresh breeze to drive into Midvaal: neat parks that residents can enjoy, solar-powered LED street lights and roads you can drive on. These are just the basics, but they’re also the underpinnings of how good government looks and feels.”

Msimanga says Teixeira has the full support of his region, province and party and the DA is looking forward to the local government elections and an even bigger DA majority in Midvaal.

“We will continue to make Midvaal work. And may this remind all Gauteng voters that the DA provides service.”
