The DA’s Michael Buthelezi is accused of killing his partner and three children in October last year.
The State says it is opposed to bail for a KwaZulu-Natal man accused of killing his partner and three children because “his life will be in danger if released”.
Michael Buthelezi, 46, appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where the public gallery was filled with family of the deceased and eBhetheni community members.
Buthelezi, who is the sole councillor for the Democratic Alliance in the Okhahlamba Municipality, allegedly set fire to his partner, 43-year-old Khombisile Nyoka, and their three children – Simbongile, 2, Zibusiso, 8, and 10-year-old Lubanzi – in October.
