South Africa’s top legislators were full of praise for Russia, who they believe had a genuine interest in Africa because it had no colonial heritage on the continent.

In March last year, a delegation from Parliament attended the second Russia-Africa International Parliamentary Conference in Moscow.

Former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, who led South Africa’s delegation, told Russian legislators that MPs believed their country’s interest in Africa was genuine.
