When the
idea of the much-anticipated Tony Brown effect on the Springboks’ attack was
first floated, few could have crammed Pieter-Steph du Toit’s robust features
into the identikit of which players would show the New Zealander’s influence
most, early on.

A freakish
athlete with the ability to play both lock and blindside flank equally well,
with a work rate that is such that his boots make an acquaintance with each
blade of grass during a game, Du Toit is nothing if not inconsistent.

If rugby
players were bakkies, Du Toit would probably be a trusted family Toyota Hilux
because you know exactly what he’s likely to do.
