Veteran Gospel singer Solly Moholo has been admitted to a hospital in Botswana after falling ill after a performance.
The 65-year-old, whose real name is Solomon Molokoane, was in the country to pre-launch his upcoming album, Wubani O zo Pepeza.
His management team posted a statement on the singer’s social media saying he was doing much better on Monday than he was when he was rushed to the hospital on Sunday.
The management team also confirmed to News24 that he was still in the hospital.
“Ntate Solly Moholo performed excellently at all his gigs in Botswana and was well received by the people of Botswana.
Unfortunately, upon his return to his residence in Botswana, Ntate Moholo fell ill and had to be rushed to a hospital in Botswana.
“His management team is still in Botswana till Solly Moholo makes a full recovery in hospital,” reads the statement.
The family has asked that his fans keep Moholo in their prayers as he fully recovers.
Moholo recently showed his fans that he is not only a musician but can also mentor aspiring musicians.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE about mentoring a homeless man, he said Dan Malungane was given a second chance.
“The man was discovered on the streets of Pretoria, where he is currently squatting. I was approached by DJ Karri to listen to him as his singing abilities seem to be good regardless of his circumstances,” Moholo said.
“I had to give him a chance, and I must say, I was blown away by his talent — and I can’t afford to deny this young man a fair second chance at life through his talent. So I’m not going to fail this man.”
