Human Settlements Minister Mamoloko Kubayi and her provincial counterpart, Lebogang Maile, handed title deeds to Dan Tloome Mega City residents on Wednesday.

However, residents from neighbouring areas watched on in disbelief after their hopes of owning a home were dashed when developers abandoned a multibillion-rand project.

Among the disgruntled residents was Rita Lobese, who registered for a house in 2017 when former Gauteng premier David Makhura and then-MEC and current deputy president, Paul Mashatile, launched the R11 billion Montrose Mega City project.
