SILENCED uncovered how Babita Deokaran was murdered after flagging large-scale corruption at Tembisa Hospital.

Disgraced Tembisa Hospital boss Ashley Mthunzi was parachuted into his plum job despite critical red flags on his own declaration form, and the top brass of the Gauteng health department cast aside their own rules to ensure he got the job.

When he took up his post at Tembisa in April 2021, he became a key actor in a R1-billion contract extraction scheme first exposed by Babita Deokaran, signing tainted medical supply contracts with grossly inflated prices and based on forged documents.

Deeply entrenched networks of shell corporations had taken root at the hospital prior to his appointment, but flourished after he took the helm.
