Many Western Cape homes will be without pickled fish and hot cross buns this Easter, due to what local fishers say is a shortage of fish that is driving up prices.

West Coast fisherman and co-founder of Abalobi Fisheries Nico Waldeck said the lack of fish was distressing.

“The harbours are empty. Fishermen go to sea for days hoping to catch snoek, but we haven’t gotten any.
