Two extortionists who murdered seven people during a turf war in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, were given life sentences for each murder by the Western Cape High Court on Thursday.
“The violence displayed by the accused was simply atrocious,” said Judge Daniel Thulare.
Gcinithemba “MDriver” Beja and Fundile “Phiri” Maseti were in an extortion gang called The Guptas, a breakaway from the Boko Haram gang, and fighting with the latter over who controls which blocks.
