It wasn’t meant to be for South Africa’s Ryan van Velzen, losing a dramatic playoff for the Cape Town Open title at Royal Cape Golf Club on Sunday.
Van Velzen’s been in exceptional form and had high hopes for the title as the Cape Town Open crown was determined in a dramatic playoff.
After signing a bogey-free round, Van Velzen was tied for the lead alongside overnight leader Mikael Lindberg from Sweden on 16-under. As Lindberg three-putted the final green for a bogey to slip into a playoff, Van Velzen was watching in the clubhouse with a Coke Zero, tentatively watching the coverage on SuperSport.
