On the eve of the first Test between the Springboks and Ireland at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) announced it would no longer broadcast the highly anticipated Inbound Series between rugby’s world number one and two teams.

The world champion Springboks drew first blood in the two-match series with a 27-20 victory at a sold-out Loftus.

The public broadcaster announced on Friday that, following urgent litigation at the Competition Appeal Court over the rights to broadcast, it had been compelled to review its decision to continue with the sub-licence agreement with MultiChoice.
