PPC is hopeful SA may be reaching the end of a dismal construction and cement cycle that has seen little infrastructure rollout from the private and public sectors.

New CEO Matias Cardarelli said on Monday he was cautiously optimistic about SA’s new administration post the national elections, adding he believed it knew there was no way the country would be able to reduce its high unemployment rate without a healthy construction market and infrastructure expansion.

Cardarelli, who has been in the top job at SA’s largest cement producer for the past seven months, was speaking to News24 after the release of full year results for the year ended March 2024.
