Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus is still flirting with the idea of a seven-one bench split, having already gone six-two for Saturday’s first Test against Ireland at Loftus Versfeld.

In announcing his match-day squad at the team hotel on Tuesday afternoon, Erasmus picked Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu ahead of Manie Libbok on the bench as the former’s utility strengths at 10, 12 and 15 won him over.

Erasmus said there were certain niggles that concerned him, but Libbok being relegated to stand-watching with Feinberg-Mngomezulu getting his second Test cap, was a hard but necessary choice.
