On Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa conveyed his good wishes to South Africa’s Christian community as the Easter weekend approaches.

He says that the resurrection of Christ contains a timeless message of hope and renewal that has particular meaning in times of uncertainty.

“For South Africa’s diverse Christian denominations and for Christians worldwide, the resurrection of Christ serves as a powerful call to personal renewal and is an integral part of the faith. This timeless message to maintain hope in the midst of uncertainty resonates with us all.”

The president will attend their annual Easter celebrations in Moria in Limpopo this weekend together with believers from the Zion Christian Church (ZCC).

He also described the Easter weekend as an opportunity for rest and reuniting with family and friends.

“No matter where we are this weekend, let us take the Easter message to heart by living ubuntu, empathy and tolerance – in our communities, at social gatherings, on the roads and above all in our homes.”
