ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa ordered ANC branches in his 8 January speech to campaign and ensure that communities pay for their services, introduce pay-as-you-go meters, and disconnect illegal electricity and water connections.
Yet he glanced over the party’s plans to tackle the country’s glaring challenges, such as service delivery and load shedding, at the ANC’s 112th anniversary celebrations in Mbombela.
On Saturday, Eskom announced that it would implement Stage 3 load shedding. Though he spoke for more than an hour, Ramaphosa rushed through plans to fix the energy crisis and end load shedding.
