Aiden Markram isn’t the first South African captain to lead with aplomb at an International Cricket Council event, despite not coming back with the title.

In getting to Saturday’s T20 World Cup final they lost by seven runs against India in Barbados, he achieved something that eluded all of his predecessors in the T20 and 50-Over formats.

It’s a feat, that while the team failed to get over the final hurdle, got the team closer to the hearts of fans.
