The Miss World organisation, which has been running for more than seven decades, is well-known for its “Beauty with a Purpose” initiative, raising funds for causes that support disadvantaged and disabled children. The organisation will announce more details about the 2025 finals in the coming months.

Last year, Dr Claude Mashego made history by becoming the first Miss World South Africa titleholder under Bouwer’s leadership. She was crowned at the inaugural edition of the pageant, which took place at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

Mashego represented South Africa in the 2024 Miss World pageant, which was held in India. She showcased her grace and commitment to social impact on the international stage.  She made it to the top 40 of the Miss World pageant.

Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg was crowned second runner-up, and Alyssa Joan Smith was chosen as first runner-up.

A medical doctor by profession, Mashego hails from Acornhoek, Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, and holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Pretoria. During her reign, she focused on building a network of young leaders across South Africa and the continent through her non-profit organisation, the Young Leaders Network.

Reflecting on her role as a titleholder, Mashego said, “For me, pageants have always been about finding a platform that gives one an opportunity and resources to be a community-builder, finding my corner and brightening it so much that my light inspires the next person to do the same in their corner.”
