Dozens of visitors gathered at the Wall of Remembrance at the Nampo Harvest Day outside Bothaville on Thursday morning for an Ascension service.

Rev. Laurie Naudé, pastor of the NG Church Meyerhof in Bothaville, led the service with Scripture reading and prayer.

Jan van Niekerk, leader of the FF Plus in the Free State, says Ascension is the backbone of the faith of Christians and farmers. He also laid a wreath at the wall as a sign of respect and remembrance.

“The service is a reminder that Jesus ascended to heaven and the price he paid. He went to prepare. No matter what happens on earth, what the circumstances are and what happens in agriculture, we know there is a place prepared in heaven despite the difficult times we are going through now. And this is what we live for,” says Van Niekerk.

Maroela Media captured the service in photos.
