One of Africa’s biggest arts festivals concluded on Sunday, celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The National Arts Festival (NAF) ran from 20 to 30 June in Makhanda, Eastern Cape. With around 300 items on the programme, stretching across 11 days, it was easy to feel overwhelmed. There was so much to see, hear and experience, featuring theatre, performances, magic, comedy, music, exhibitions, discussions and more.

A sense of FOMO is inevitable when you are at the festival. Despite being there for 6 of the 10 days, there was still a lot I missed, so this article will only capture a fraction of what the festival had to offer.
