Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa will address the country tonight at 20:00 after the Constitutional Court’s ruling on the art. 89 process against him.

The presidency said in a media release that Ramaphosa will speak from the Union Building in Pretoria.

Maroela Media reported earlier that the Constitutional Court declared invalid the National Assembly’s decision not to refer the independent panel report on the Phala Phala scandal to an impeachment committee.

The case was brought by the EFF after the National Assembly had earlier decided not to proceed with art. 89 proceedings against Ramaphosa. This process is related to the panel’s findings on whether there were sufficient grounds to investigate whether Ramaphosa may have violated the Constitution.
