The OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park finally has water again.

The airport announced on Saturday morning that all the terminals are experiencing a temporary water shortage.

“Our maintenance teams are working urgently to resolve the problem and restore the normal water supply as soon as possible,” the South African Airports Company (Acsa) said on Saturday morning.

By early afternoon, however, Acsa announced that the water supply had been restored.

“Repairs have been successfully completed and the water supply has been restored to all terminals. Water pressure is currently building and will continue to normalize,” the airport company confirmed a short time ago.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation while the repairs were underway.”

It is not clear exactly how long the airport had to do without water.

The City of Johannesburg experiences frequent water outages.

Helen Zille, the DA’s mayoral committee member in Johannesburg, happened to be at the airport on Saturday morning shortly before she made five promises to voters during an event in Johannesburg if she is elected mayor in the upcoming municipal elections.

Reliable water for all residents is one of those promises.
