Two KwaZulu-Natal police officers were on Friday robbed of their service firearms and a state vehicle in the Umbumbulu area, south of Durban.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker, the officers were on patrol at 11:00 when they stopped a suspicious-looking vehicle.

He said: “As the police officers were searching the [four] men, they were attacked and overpowered. The suspects robbed the police officers of firearms as well as the keys to the police vehicle.”
