The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has declared as unconstitutional and invalid the City of Johannesburg’s controversial VIP protection policy, which – in its current form – allows for ten bodyguards for the mayor, eight for the speaker and as many as five for other members of the mayoral committee and committee chairs.
