The beleaguered ANC-administered Msunduzi Local Municipality’s debt to Eskom and uMngeni-uThukela Water, among other creditors, has skyrocketed to a staggering R1.9 billion.

Though the municipality wants to keep the figures under wraps, News24 can reveal the figure contained in a report compiled by the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs’ ministerial representative, Martin Sithole, is at R1.9 billion. 

The municipality is under administration.
