AN ORGANIZATION that works not for profit to help the community, Ikhethelo Society Group, will use the day to honor mothers, Mother’s Day, to bring them together and come up with strategies to help them become independent in life.

This will happen at the Mother’s Day Brunch event, which will be held at the Garden Court Marine Parade, Durban on Sunday from 11 am until the afternoon, where more than 120 women are expected to gather. Entry will be R600 per person.

One of the organizers of the event, Ms. Kipi Skweyiya, said that they felt it was important to use Mother’s Day to bring women together and equip them with things and techniques that will help them to be independent and deal with the situations that bother them in life.

“We are doing this because we understand how much is bothering women in the community when they are the ones who are faced with the task of raising children, and establishing families and homes where they live and are not enough,” said Ms. Skweyiya.

Continuing, he said that in this event they will be accompanied by speakers and entertainers including the author of books Indlovukazi Mapule, Zonke Le Poet, Afro pop singer Ndoni Radebe, DJ Malume Richy and 2K Womsakazi who will be cracking jokes.

“We have planned programs for the audience of the event to have fun, they also get the opportunity to talk and build relationships so that each person can benefit from the skills they have and whatever good they like to do,” he said.

Besides Ms Skweyiya – other members of the association are Ms Duh Ndlovu, Nandi Goodjohn, Zah Duma, Ncamo Nkonjela, Buyi Gambu and Ms Luh Nzimande.
