The journey of the cricket player from Mashu, Nqobani Mokoena, who is one of the South Africa A squad that will face the England Lions this month, is STILL CONTINUES.
Mokoena (19) stood out in the T20 tournament, Betway SA20, playing for Paarl Royals last year.
He was subsequently included in the national T20 squad that played a five-match T20 series against New Zealand away in March.
This time he will go with the South Arica A squad, which supports the Proteas, who will play two four-day matches, and three One Day International (ODI) matches against the main support team of England from May 22 to June 9.
The team will be led by Hollywoodbets Dolphins veteran, Marques Ackermann, in both forms of cricket.
Other experienced players nominated are bowlers Dane Paterson and Ottniel Baartman, as well as batsman Tony de Zorzi.
“We have continued to appoint players who have shown to be of good quality in SA ‘A’ and in their teams. This trip is a good opportunity for these players to learn to cope with the conditions in England. We know that a player like Dane has a lot of experience playing in England. I am eager to see him partnering with Ottneil and our young skaters,” said SA ‘A’ coach, Wandile Gwavu.
“Some of the players we included in the ODI squad were part of the big national T20 team that played in New Zealand but they will learn something different on this trip, which will help them grow,” said Gwavu.
The local team will leave for England on May 16 before the first four-day match starting on May 22 at the Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground.
