A bargaining council for teachers booted out a maths teacher who had sex with a pupil after plying her with alcohol in his room and getting her drunk.
The pupil, who was 18 years old at the time of the incident in March 2021, fell pregnant and subsequently gave birth.
On 13 June, the Education Labour Relations Council (ELRC) found Sabelo Dladla, a teacher from Mxhume Secondary School in Ntabankulu, in the Eastern Cape, guilty of sexual assault.
