The body of a man washed up at Cape Town’s popular Clifton Beach on Thursday afternoon.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the partially decomposed body had washed out between 3rd and 4th Beach, Clifton.
“Camps Bay police registered an inquest for investigation,” Twigg said.
SAPS divers were called to the scene and recovered the body from the rocks.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” said Twigg.

Ward councillor Nicola Jowell said: “The deceased is an adult male who has been in the water for quite a while. The circumstances and location of where he entered the water is not known.
“With the rough and very high seas, it could have been many places along the coastline.
“I hope SAPS are able to make an identification so that the family may have closure.”
