A man was seriously injured in a horrific crash that saw his superbike landing on top of a car in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday morning.

ALS Paramedics said the incident took place around 06:30 at the intersection of St Johns Avenue and Payne Street.

“On arrival, paramedics were shocked to find the superbike still on top of the vehicle,” said ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

He said the rider was found a few meters away from the crash site.

Jamieson added that the rider, a man in his thirties, suffered significant injuries and required immediate medical attention.

“ALS Paramedics worked to stabilise him on the scene before he was transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required,” Jamieson said. 

He said the events leading up to the crash were unknown, but the South African Police Service and Durban Metro Police were in attendance and would be investigating.
