ANC PROMOTER in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Mike Mabuyakhulu, has revealed that the driver of the car that hit Dr Ntuthuko Mahlaba, did not run away after the accident.
He said this while speaking to the media while visiting Mahlaba’s family, in KwaGrace area, Nquthu, yesterday.
Mabuyakhulu said it is nonsense that the driver of the car that hit Mahlaba in Newcastle, on Saturday, did the incident and ran away.
“It is not true that the driver ran away, but what I can say is that he was there, he stayed until the family and the police arrived, and explained the whole situation that happened. What we want now is for the police to carry out their investigation until the end,” said Mabuyakhulu.
He pointed out that Mahlaba was a person of great help to the community as he helped with various things.
“He had a program where he donated shoes to different students throughout our province and he also helped the disabled with their chairs which means a lot to the community. He touched many people in the community we live in. We lost the ANC as a party because he was also helpful in different things,” said Mabuyakhulu.
Mahlaba’s best friend, who is also the Deputy The MEC for Works, Mr. Jomo Sibiya, said that the one he called Mahlaba, who was a good person and loved people, died.
“Ntuthuko was a very loving person who loved people, he was always laughing. We are very saddened by his passing as we still expected a lot from him. We mourn the loss of the Mahlaba family, it is painful for all of us, something unexpected happened,” he explained.
The spokesperson for the Mahlaba family, the younger sister of the deceased, Ms. Nondumiso Mahlaba, said that soon during the week they will announce all the plans for the funeral.
He said, but for now, he cannot say that he will be buried where he was born in Kwa Grace, Nquthu, even though he was already based in Newcastle.
When you enter Mahlaba’s house at the gate, you are met by different cars, including those of ANC politicians.
Sorrow was something that was written on the faces of different members of this group as tears fell from different people who were standing in groups, making it clear to anyone that they are facing an imminent danger.
Members of the community who were wearing ANC uniforms were taking turns in the yard, also coming in and out.
A member of the public who spoke toOf this countryMr. Tankiso Motloung, revealed that they have died in the community, as Mahlaba was a great help to them.
“We used to shout once if there is a community that needs to be helped, let’s really lend a hand. We are left out of Mahlaba’s visit because in the province as a community she is the one who said if we shout it will be easier for us to get help. I really don’t know what will happen to the grandmothers during the Christmas holidays as she was the one who brought them sweets and they were happy and had a good time,” explained Motloung.
