A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend in Moretsele Village, Limpopo.

Police say the 43-year-old woman was found brutally stabbed to death on Thursday.

According to police, they were called out to a complaint of people being attacked at their home.

When they arrived, they found the woman’s body lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds to her head and face.

A search was launched in a bid to track down the alleged perpetrator.

“The deceased’s boyfriend was arrested while in his hideout in the Nebo policing area and positively linked to the incident,” said Ledwaba.

The motive behind the murder is under investigation, but authorities say domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

“We are deeply saddened by another senseless killing of a vulnerable woman, allegedly at the hands of her partner. We will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served,” added Limpopo provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.

The suspect will appear at the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations continue.
