The Western Cape High Court was bristling with security on Monday for the start of the trial of Mark Lifman, alleged Sexy Boys gang boss Jerome “Donkie” Booysen and others, that is taking place just metres from the trial of their alleged enemies, Nafiz Modack and associates.

In the dock was Lifman, Booysen, Andre Naude, Sam Farquharson, Egan Norman, Wayne Henderson, Ricardo Maarman, Typhyenne Jantjies, Bevan Ezaus, Bradley De Bula, Kashief Hanslo, Rowndal Stevens, Ismail Cupido and Igor Russol.

According to the State, at the heart of the Lifman and Booysen trial was a deadly battle for control over the supply of security and bouncers in many of Cape Town’s most expensive clubs and restaurants.
