The Ukraine-born co-accused in the trial of Mark Lifman, Jerome Booysen and 11 others came within a whisker of having a separate trial because there was no Russian interpreter available. 

However, at the 11th hour, Igor Russol said he could understand English, and did not need an interpreter. 

“I understand,” said Russol, after Judge Vincent Saldanha tested his English with long sentences.
