SA’s competition watchdog has dropped its case against global pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson (J&J) over the high price of lifesaving tuberculosis (TB) drug bedaquiline.

Bedaquiline, which is sold under the trade name Sirturo, is used to treat drug-resistant TB. SA has one of the highest rates of TB in the world. 

The Competition Commission launched an investigation into J&J and its subsidiary Janssen Pharmaceutica in September last year.
