Tourism KZN has made all preparations to welcome visitors this Easter, which is the time when the visit of believers who attend various services in the province stands out.

Even though this time is known as a religiously focused tourist, it is not only for believers because there are also families and friends who use this time to relax and have fun together by visiting different places.

Pinky Radebe, the head of Communications at KZN Tourism and Film, says they have come up with an action plan to be able to deal with the crowds.

“KwaZulu-Natal has made all the preparations to welcome the believers who will come to spend the holidays in this area and to boost the economy of the province. People will be coming from all walks of life to the services, there are also those who will relax on the beaches and have fun,” said Radebe.

Apart from looking after the believers, there are also many organized events that will ensure that the bars, hotels, BnBs and other lodgings are full and the transport industry will eat from this chaos.

Durban hosts all the fun this weekend, with major events including Kelvin Momo’s One Man Concert, Doek On Fleek, and family-friendly programs at Shaka Marine World as various games and competitions suitable for children have started

There is also good news for people who want to spend their time at the beach. All 23 beaches in Durban are open and safe for swimming. 200 guards will be deployed every day from 6 am to 6 pm, to strengthen security.

Radebe says they are looking at the fact that these holidays will bring in between R800m and R1 billion.

“The economy will enter in many ways and benefit many different people from small and large businessmen, transport and township economy,” concluded Radebe.
