This week, after what must rank as the most difficult negotiations regarding our political leadership since 1994, President Cyril Ramaphosa finally announced a Cabinet.

Since the loss of the ANC’s absolute majority in the general elections of 29 May, the process of trying to put together a government of some form has consumed the national discourse. The ANC’s 40% share of the vote made them the leading contender to cobble together enough alliances across the aisle to form a government.
