The attempted murder and child abuse trial of a Pretoria couple accused of continuously assaulting their 4-month-old child has been delayed for nearly two years despite the State’s readiness to proceed.

The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identity of their child, known as ” Baby M”, appeared in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Monday.

The matter had to be postponed again because Judge Portia Phahlane, who is presiding over the trial, was unavailable.
