A high-level water meeting on Thursday carved out roles for entities and civil society groups to take action to prevent a full-scale water crisis in Johannesburg.

This comes as Rand Water enters its fifth day of maintenance, the city’s water supply decreases, and water outages increase.

WaterCAN executive manager Ferrial Adam said that during the meeting, it was revealed that there would not be enough water to supply all the residents in the city by 2028 unless contingencies were made.
