A tremor was felt in Johannesburg in the early hours of Monday morning, less than 48 hours after the city felt a magnitude 3 earthquake on Saturday night.

According to unconfirmed information published on the Council for Geoscience website, a tremor measuring a magnitude of 2.6 was recorded in the south of Johannesburg just before 02:30.

Council of Geoscience seismologist Eldridge Kgaswane said that the organisation is still reviewing the data, but it appears the latest seismic activity has been around a mining dump in the south of Johannesburg.
