Janet Jackson will no longer headline the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival, scheduled to take place this weekend, due to a family tragedy. The iconic singer has had to cancel her much-anticipated performance following the recent death of her brother, Tito Jackson.
Festival organisers cited a statement released by Janet’s management team saying: “Janet’s brother Tito passed away this past Sunday. For obvious reasons, Janet has to cancel her performance at the DStv Delicious Festival to be with family. Management is making plans to come back next year. Janet also wishes to thank all of her South African fans for the warm and heartfelt support she’s receiving at this difficult time.”
The festival organisers expressed their deepest condolences to the Jackson family and acknowledged the disappointment that fans may be feeling following this announcement.
We understand that many fans were excited to see Janet Jackson perform, and the festival’s management team is actively working on securing a suitable international replacement headliner to ensure an unforgettable experience.
While the news has left festivalgoers wondering who will take Jackson’s place on the star-studded lineup, organisers have assured the public that Sunday’s programme will continue as planned. RnB sensation Jill Scott is still expected to honour her booking, giving Sunday’s festival attendees something to look forward to.
More information regarding the replacement headliner will be announced soon, as festival management continues their efforts to deliver a memorable weekend of music, food, and culture.
For now, fans are left to reflect on the difficult time Jackson and her family are going through, sending thoughts and condolences her way while looking ahead to a potential return performance from the music legend at next year’s festival.
