The team tasked by Zwelithini’s King Misuzulu Sinqobile to persuade political parties represented in Parliament to support the proposal to amend the law governing the management of the fund that oversees Zulu’s land, the Ngonyama Trust.

The team appointed by Mbube will hold meetings with the groups represented in Parliament next week.

The parties agreed to meet with the ANC, MKP, DA, EFF, IFP, PA, ACDP, PA, Bosa, Rise Mzansi, PAC, ActionSA, FF Plus and UDM. There will be cooking and pouring as these meetings will be held on Thursday and Friday.

The team will have to go to Parliament because this matter has been dealt with at this level and the results have not been as desired by the Royal Family. It will be remembered that Parliament once appointed a team led by the former president, Mr. Kgalema Motlanthe. The team’s report suggested that the Ngonyama Trust be abolished.

Many political parties present in Parliament at the time expressed their support for the recommendations of the 2017 report.

But this report ended up in the air after Zulu’s protests led by Bhekuzulu’s Goodwill Zwelithini.

PARTY CALLS

It is no secret that many political parties are not happy with the way Ngonyama Trust is being managed. Others often express that the land under this fund should belong to the government.

Most of the nose blowing is about finances when Ngonyama Trust officials are called to answer in Parliament about the use of funds.

The Giraffe team went to Parliament at a time when no party won the election with flying colors. This situation makes the work of the team difficult as it will have to try to negotiate with the parties represented in the Parliament.

That is not an easy task.

It is difficult to pass a change in the law in Parliament because the same parties that govern together also disagree with each other.

This was very evident when there was a proposal to increase by 2% the tax that is added to the goods purchased. We ended up not succeeding in this proposal due to the disagreement of the governing parties.

The team will have to be prepared to deal with all these situations.

THE POWER OF HEAVEN AND THE BEAST

It is possible, however, that this situation is in the team’s favor because many political parties have avoided opposing Silo live.

This is because of the fear that opposing Silo will make the people of KwaZulu-Natal not vote for that party that opposes the mouth that does not tell lies.

This is the year of the local government elections, who knows maybe the team may win this battle with the mercy of the politicians that they have this season.

The main purpose of the meeting is to persuade political parties to support the proposal to amend the Ngonyama Trust Act so that Mbube will be empowered to appoint board members.

The current law gives the Minister of Lands the power to appoint board members. It does not give Silo peace that the minister is given the power to appoint board members.

The current board members are at odds with Silo. If Mbube had gone this way, the board members would have been fired long ago.

Mbube complains that the board members do not respect him and do not want to accept him as the Chairman of the board. These members were appointed when the Department was still managed by Mrs Thoko Didiza, who is now the Speaker of Parliament.

The minister in charge, Mr Mzwanele Nyhontso, has tried several times to fire the members of the board.

Recently, Nyhontso tried to fire the members because some of them have been wiped out and the remaining ones are not enough to be able to do the job. The board members went to the High Court in Pietermaritzburg to challenge Nyhontso’s decision.

Of course the court issued a temporary restraining order annulling Nyhontso’s decision to fire the board members.

THE ROUNDS ARE BOUND

Another thing the Mbube want is for the Ngonyama Trust to fall under the KwaZulu-Natal government instead of the national government.

The Mbube team led by the Prime Minister of Zulu, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has tied the knots of different sectors, especially in the legal field.

Among others, there is a retired Judge, Mbambaleseni Isaac Madondo, and a lawyer for Judges, Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi.

The chiefs in the province expressed their support for Mbube’s efforts to amend the law governing the Ngonyama Trust.

The kings said that they want Mbube to be the one to jointly manage the Ngonyama Trust.

He did not say this in his special meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by chiefs from all regions.

This week, Mbube met with the Prime Minister of KwaZulu-Natal, Mr. Thami Ntuli, where he emphasized the importance of restoring stability to Ngonyama Trust.

Silo’s spokesperson, Prince Thulani of Gqikazi Zulu, said Silo has instructed Ntuli to contact Nyhontso so that they can come up with a strategy to solve the problems facing the Ngonyama Trust.

“This includes dealing with administrative challenges, ensuring that there is a clear law, and restoring the full operation of this institution in a way that protects the interests of the Zulu nation and ensures public trust.

“Isilo emphasized that there is cooperation between the Prime Minister’s office, the Ministry of Lands and the office of the manager of the Ngonyama Trust. The Lion also said that the Ingonyama Trust is still an important asset for the nation and the province, which needs to be managed carefully, transparently, and in harmony with all levels of government.”
