Anything can happen in all of the second legs of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals as neither team won by a margin of goals in the first leg during the week.
In Tuesday’s games starting at 9 pm, Atletico Madrid will be visited by Barcelona at Riyadh Air Metropolitano, Paris Saint-Germain will face Liverpool at Anfield.
On Wednesday, at the same time, Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena, Arsenal will face Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium.
IPSG will arrive at Anfield leading with two goals scored at home, scored by Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
However, this team coached by Luis Enrique wasted a lot of chances at home, especially Ousmane Dembele, which will make them regret it if Liverpool wakes up in their stadium.
The captain of Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk, believes that their fans will give them a boost in Tuesday’s game, despite the fact that they are facing the challenge of conceding two goals.
“I am not at all happy with our defeat. The good thing is that we still have another chance next week. We must be at a high level in everything we do in the second leg. We hope that our fans will play a big role. They have helped us many times,” said Van Dijk on the UEFA website.
Another team that needs to get back into the game following a two-goal defeat is Barcelona, who were beaten 2-0 by Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou.
The goals that won Diego Simeone for the first time in Barcelona since he started coaching Atletico in 2011 were scored by Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth.
This game was preceded by the league last Saturday which was won by Barcelona 2-1 at the Atletico stadium.
This result should have encouraged Hansi Flick’s team as they need another good result on the road to have a chance to advance.
“It will be difficult to return to Atleti’s stadium, but if someone can do that, say it. We will go there and try our best. It helps that some players have returned from injury, that will help us renew the team. We must trust ourselves,” said Barca’s stopper, Ronald Araujo.
Bayern Munich put themselves in a good position to advance by defeating Real Madrid 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid.
The German side took the lead thanks to goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane, but allowing Kylian Mbappe to score for Madrid midway through the second half means both teams will go into the second leg believing they can put themselves in the semi-finals.
“I commend my players to continue attacking and not to lose hope. We will go to Germany knowing that we can win the game. We have to be careful when we attack because Bayern is dangerous because of their speed. We have learned a lot from them,” said Real Madrid coach, Alvaro Arbeloa.
In another match on Wednesday, Arsenal will go into the second leg of their match against Sporting CP leading 1-0 with a late goal from Kai Havertz.
